Troubleshooting Error 0X80131500 when trying to install the Minecraft Launcher

If you are running into Error 0X80131500 when trying to install the Minecraft Launcher, try running the Windows Troubleshooter to find a solution to your issue. If that doesn’t work, you may need to make some slight updates to your internet options.

Run the Windows Troubleshooter

  1. Press the Windows key + I simultaneously to open Settings.
  2. Choose Update & Security.
  3. Click Troubleshoot on the left side.
  4. Select Additional troubleshooters.
  5. Scroll down to find Windows Store Apps.
  6. Click Run the troubleshooter.
  7. The troubleshooter will begin to check for problems on your computer and fix them. When it is finished, reboot your computer and retry to see whether the error is addressed.

Update your Internet Options

  1. Open Internet Options in Control Panel.
  2. Select the Advanced tab.
  3. Scroll to the Bottom of the List where you can see Use SSL/TLS.
  4. Un-Select SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0 and 1.1.
  5. Select TLS 1.2 and (if available) TLS 1.3.
  6. Click Apply.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Reboot Computer.
