Requirements to Play Minecraft: Bedrock Edition Split-Screen

You can share a console and Play Minecraft: Bedrock Edition split-screen if you and your friend(s) are in the same location and each have a controller. Other requirements are platform specific and listed below.

Nintendo Switch split-screen requirements

  • Host is signed in to their Microsoft account: The host must be signed in to their Microsoft account. Guests cannot sign in to Microsoft accounts.
  • Multiplayer game toggle is turned off: All players need an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription unless the Multiplayer game toggle is turned off. Select Edit for your world, then the Multiplayer tab to locate the toggle.
  • Nintendo Switch is docked and connected to a TV or monitor: The TV or monitor resolution must be greater than 1080p and HDMI compatible.
  • Each player’s controller is turned on: Each joy con is a controller, so you’ll need a joy con or pro controller for each player.

Sony PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 split-screen requirements

  • Host is signed in to their Microsoft account: The host must be signed in to their Microsoft account. Guests cannot sign in to Microsoft accounts.
  • Multiplayer game toggle is turned off: All players need an active PlayStation Plus subscription unless the Multiplayer game toggle is turned off. Select Edit for your world, then the Multiplayer tab to locate the toggle.

Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S split-screen requirements

  • Host is signed in to their Microsoft account: The host must be signed in to their Microsoft account. Guests can also sign in to their Microsoft accounts.
  • Multiplayer game toggle is turned off: All players need an Xbox Game Pass Core subscription unless the Multiplayer game toggle is turned off. Select Edit for your world, then the Multiplayer tab to locate the toggle.
