The audio controls in Minecraft: Java Edition have been designed to provide various options for customizing your in-game audio experience. To access these settings:
- Open Minecraft: Java Edition.
- Select Options.
- Select Music & Sounds.
From this menu, adjust settings for a variety of different audio channels:
Volume Sliders
- Master Volume: Controls the overall volume of the entire game.
- Music: Changes the volume of Minecraft’s background soundtrack.
- Jukebox/Note Blocks: Controls the volume of jukebox music disks and note block sounds.
- Weather: Changes the volume for weather events such as rain and thunder.
- Block: Controls the volume for block interactions, such as breaking and placing blocks.
- Hostile Mobs: Manages the volume for all hostile mobs and bosses.
- Friendly Mobs: Changes the volume for all non-hostile mobs.
- Players: Controls the volume for sounds from player actions.

Other Sound Features
- Device: Lets you choose which audio output device Minecraft uses.
- Closed Captions: Displays text subtitles with directional indicators for nearby sounds while playing the game.
- Directional Audio: Enables stereo positional audio, making sounds appear from directions based on player position, so it’s easier to tell where whatever is making a sound is located.

Music Frequency controls how often music plays in the background:
- Default: Music in the game world has a gap between music tracks.
- Frequent: A shorter gap between music tracks in-game.
- Constant: Music is constantly playing in the background.

Music Toast toggles pop-up notifications when music starts with information about the track being played.
- Never: No music toast is shown.
- Pause Menu: A music toast is displayed in the in-game pause menu while a song is playing.
- Pause Menu and Toast: The music toast is constantly displayed in the pause menu when a track is playing and appears in-game when it begins playing.
